Process and Chemical Engineering  (PCE)

The Process and Chemical Engineering (PCE) bulletin and its German equivalent, the Verfahrenstechnische Berichte, keep you up to date on industrially applicable developments in chemical and process engineering. The topics addressed include the different types of process and chemical engineering; production processes; materials technology; environmental protection and safety; measurement and process control; applicable information technology; utilities and services; and economics and management. Theoretical Chemical Engineering   (TCE)

The Theoretical Chemical Engineering (TCE) bulletin provides brief, up-to-date information on the development and optimisation of chemical plants using mathematical models and algorithms. Topics range from the calculation of phase equilibria and the corresponding laboratory-scale measurements to the optimisation of complete plants. Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology Abstracts (CEABA)

CEABA consists of all the English abstracts in the CEABA-VtB database, from 1971 onwards. Annually, about 10,000 new English entrys are added. Main topics are chemical engineering and related fields like materials technology, environmental protection, safety, mathematical simulations and bioprocess engineering. The CEABA archive data contain more biotechnology and modelling entries than the German language VtB archive (below). In selecting entries, the editorial team considers the industrial applicability and novelty of the work. For more details, see Coverage .

The English CEABA database is available:

• as a CEABA CD-ROM (Dialog OnDisc), available from Dialog,  updated monthly. The CD-ROM offers different search options using the search menu options or the commands,  searches can be saved and results exported. For prices, contact Dialog
• as an CEABA in-house installation () available from Dialog, updated monthly and enabling unlimited searching and user numbers. With search options like the CD-ROM. For prices, contact Dialog
• as online database via the internet hosts Dialog (file 315) and DataStar (file CEABA), which are updated monthly. A variety of search options are available, from simple to more advanced. Rapid access to the original articles is provided via the DOI (digital object identifier) or through online document ordering services.

Verfahrenstechnische Berichte (VtB)

VtB consists of  the German abstracts in the CEABA-VtB database, from 1966 onwards. Annually, about 10,000 German entries are added on chemical engineering topics, including materials technology; environmental protection and safety; measurement and process control; and bioprocess engineering. In selecting entries, the editorial team consider the industrial applicability and novelty of the work. For more details, see Coverage .

The German VtB database is available:

• as a CD-ROM from the DECHEMA, updated annually,  two times per year or monthly (the latter two options with surcharge). The PFS3000 retrieval software from Kramer & Hofmann offers sophisticated searching using commands. Alternatively, individual or multiple data fields can be searched using the menus in the intuitive user interface. Rapid access to the original articles is provided via the DOI (digital object identifier) or through a online document ordering services.
• as an in-house installation from the DECHEMA,  annually, two times per year or monthly (the latter two options with surcharge). The InterHost3000 software from Kramer & Hofmann enables the VtB database to be integrated with your other in-house databases. Offers search options and full text access like the CD-ROM.
• the current entries are also published in the current awareness bulletin Verfahrenstechnische Berichte  (details see below)

Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology Abstracts - Verfahrenstechnische Berichte (CEABA-VtB)

CEABA-VtB is the complete database of chemical engineering and biotechnology, currently containing about 700,000 abstracts from 1966 onwards. Entries are in English, German or both. All chemical engineering abstracts added since 2001 are available in both English and German. Earlier chemical engineering abstracts are in English, German or both. The archive data on biotechnology and simulation are mainly in English. Presently, about 10,000 bilingual English-German entries are added on chemical engineering topics, including materials technology; environmental protection and safety; measurement and process control; and bioprocess engineering. The full CEABA-VtB database is available:

• as online database via the internet hosts STN  and their European partner organisation FIZ Karlsruhe  or FIZ Technik (file CEAB), which are updated monthly. A variety of search options are available, from simple to more advanced. Rapid access to the original articles is provided via the DOI (digital object identifier) or through online document ordering services. Both hosts offer a range of pricing models, including annual subscriptions and pay-as-you-go. For further details, contact the host of interest.
