Interdisciplinary work from scientists and engineers of research and industry

• Experts from science, business and the authorities cooperate in subject divisions and on research committees.
• Promotion of research and development, among other things in AiF projects and by scholarships of the Max Buchner Research Foundation (available only in German).
• Advisory services to the BMBF (German Ministry of Education and Research) concerning the promotion of chemical technologies and biotechnology
• Organisation of the international exhibition-congresses ACHEMA and  ACHEMASIA under the label ACHEMA Worldwide
• Exchange of information and experience at workshops, congresses and colloquia
• Training and continuing education for specialists and students
• Teaching at universities
• Promotion of the up-and-coming generation of scientists and technologists
• Publication of scientific literature and development of databases and multimedia systems
• National and international cooperation with other scientific societies
• Up-to-date information and networks on more than 2,000 internet pages
• Research at the Karl-Winnacker-Institut of the DECHEMA in the fields of technical chemistry, chemical process engineering, electrochemistry, biological process engineering and materials
• Contacts with the press and the public 
• The VBU V ereinigung deutscher B iotechnologie- U nternehmen (Association of German Biotechnology Companies) was founded in 1996 with the aim of developing and strengthening the biotechnology sector. It now has approximately 215 member companies, most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises.
