ACHEMA 2009 generates optimism: world chemical engineering summit ends on an upbeat note Chemistry and chemical engineering are focusing confidently on the future: this sums up ACHEMA 2009, which ended on Friday in Frankfurt. On five days over 173,000 visitors from all over the world visited the 3,767 exhibitors in the exhibition halls in order to catch up on the latest products and technologies from chemical engineering, biotechnology, environmental protection and adjacent sectors. Moreover, in terms of exhibitors and visitors the 29th ACHEMA was more international than ever before. 46.6 % of the exhibitors and 28 % of the visitors came from abroad. Both the exhibitors and the organizers were highly satisfied with the outcome of the event.

ACHEMA unfazed by economic crisis Exhibitors and visitors at ACHEMA have not allowed the economic crisis to deter them: two days after the Opening, the organizers of this world chemical engineering summit issued a highly upbeat interim result. Despite the tough business environ-ment, the rush of visitors brought figures up 1 % higher than in 2006, moreover with about 3,800 exhibitors on 134,000 m² the exhibition has maintained the level of the previous event.

From today Frankfurt is the world’s capital of chemistry industry From Monday to Friday this week, 3,767 exhibitors from 49 different countries will present their new products and technologies for chemical engineering, environ-mental protection and biotechnology at ACHEMA 2009 on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. With a 46.6 % share of foreign exhibitors the 29th worldwide exhibition-congress is more international than ever before in its 89-year history.
