DECHEMA e.V.

The DECHEMA Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e. V. (Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology) is a non-profit scientific and technical society based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It has more than 5,500 private and institutional members, among them scientists, engineers, companies, organisations and institutes.


One aim of DECHEMA is to promote and support research and technological progress in Chemical Technology and Biotechnology . DECHEMA regards itself as interface between science, economy, state and public.

The Karl-Winnacker-Institut of DECHEMA does research in the fields of Materials, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.

The ACHEMA , which is organised by DECHEMA is the world leading forum of process industry and the international trend-setting summit for Chemical Technology, Environmental Protection and Biotechnology.

WCO-Study: Lack of Corrosion Awareness Impacts Economy and Ecology

The World Corrosion Organisation (WCO) has released a study that reveals the paramount importance of corrosion control in everyday life. In the public, in industry and in governmental organisations, the term “corrosion” is often barely known and usually recognized only if spectacular damage occurs as a result of corrosion attack; for example, a bridge collapse or oil pipeline leak. Thus, there is a significant need for increased awareness of corrosion as a phenomenon and as a risk.
The WCO study provides a complete overview of all technological areas impacted by corrosion.
